INTERVIEW: RUBY HAUNT ON THEIR LATEST EP 'CRUSH'
For the holidays, Haunt decided to release a festive single called 'Perfume' from their upcoming ep "Crush'.
Full Song "Perfume":
We got pretty lucky and caught Haunt in the middle of all their excitement. We were able to get some insight as well as talk to them about all their latest projects and their new upcoming EP 'Crush'.
You guys recently released your EP 'So Far', which was great! Can you tell us more about it?
Victor: Thank you. This was our second EP and we wanted to experiment with different genres. We wanted each song on the EP to have its own atmosphere and energy.
You're also in the works of a new Ep 'Crush', can you tell us more about it?
We wanted to make something emotional but inspiring, soft but punk.
What was the idea behind the music video for "Crush"? Anything we should be looking out for?
The video was a glimpse into our recording process for the EP. We'll be releasing the rest of the EP, 5 songs, on February 19th.
What's the current process that your music goes through?
Wyatt: Right now we record and produce our music. Typically Victor will send me a sample of something he’s been working on and I’ll try to add vocals to it and we’ll go from there. I’m living in Portland for most of the year so much of it happens remotely and I try to make it down to LA to wrap things up.
Haunt has a specific look to it. Very artistic and well presented, and It all goes so well with your music. What is your inspiration and what exactly does Haunt want to express?
Wyatt: Haunt has been a good creative outlet to make music and represent it exactly how we want.
We did a little research and found out Victor, who is also part of Haunt, is the creator and director of your music videos. He is very talented. Can you tell us more about the process of these films?
Victor: I feel fortunate to write music and make films. They both inspire each other and it’s fun to create and share our vision.
I guess we can say we're film enthusiasts ourselves and we know some of our readers are as well. Can you give us some advice on cinematography and or any helpful tips?
Victor: It’s all about shooting good subjects and colors.
Anything else you guys would like to share with us? Maybe any other side projects you would like some people to know about?
Victor: It would be a dream to pursue Haunt completely. Our goal is to make this happen.
Wyatt : ‘Haunt Japan Tour’ Fall 2016.
